Ok, WTF is going on? Is AoC still happening with anyone, temp on hold, or completely done with??

I don't plan to keep paying for my subscription if folks are done with AoC. I heard some folks say they took a short break into Eve, then I hear now folks looking to Warhammer, etc..... Frankly I am pretty damn disappointed that we never even really gave AoC a full shot. We bonsai'd in and then, POOF....what was it, 30 days maybe?

Anyway, the main folks who were playing AoC...if you can sound off here on your intentions it would be good.

We gave AoC a huge shot, I still enjoy the game, but I'm very very disappointed with the games lack of social structure. It frustrates me that they built a game with such beautiful graphics and a kick ass combat system but failed to understand that playing solo all day long can be a bit boring. Sure you can group up but for some dumbass reason they penalize you for grouping up bigger than a party of 2. It's actually much more exp to solo grind or for us, duo grind.

Also the instances were very poory fleshed out, they reminded me of WoW's one template design used over and over for many places.

I honesty did have tons of overtime and we did have the girls. Work finally slowed down and we did log in but as you said, it's pretty thin in terms of numbers. But it's not just us, read the forums, roughly 70% of the AoC population has canceled in frustration or disappointment. PvP is woefully unbalanced, no siege weapons yet, lack of end game content in for non raiders.

Sadly, I would have to say it reminds me of SWG, a beautiful game that was released too soon before it was fully fleshed out to appeal and HOLD on to players. My WoW acct still has some days on it before it poofs so I check online to see if anyone needs anything but DAMN if the WoW graphics compared to AoC makes me feel like I'm playing a child's game. Plus the hmmm.. non real time combat of WoW just seems sooo...blah..after AoC's interactive combat system.

I'm really frustrated, the game has soooooo much potential.

Carrie and I actually did the unthinkable and we turned on our Everquest accts! lol. Before anyone groans, I have only logged in once during the week the acct has been on and that was to see how the game looked and to relieve some fond memories. The Everquest Verndari chapter is staggeringly large, it's a whole 4 players big, Carrie, myself, Jaeger and Arybus, lol.

I honestly don't know where to go or what to do, I just can't see myself going back to WoW's graphics or the ease of the combat system but I don't know what other game is out there that could or would hold my interest.

I wish someone would take the Funcom dev's by the scruffs of their necks and tell the to FIX THE DAMN game.

I will state though, there is a slight chance with Blizzards epxac that we may still return. The reason being the siege aspects of the game and MAYBE some further improvements to the overall game. Honestly though, I really wish they would prevent all the mods and scripts from working. The game is no longer game play, it's automation. I crave the twitchy feel of AoC and sadly WoW just feels like a game made for kids. No, I don't care about how tough some end bosses are, they aren't tough until a guild does them with no mods or scripts.

aoc's combat system isn't all that different from eq2's chain attacks, i would hardly call it twitchy. and graphics mean jack shit, I would play a text game if its compelling enough. travian is easily more addictive than AoC.

My perspective of WoW is that it is an easy game to learn, but a hard game to master.

If I could just not feel like EQ2 is such a grind to level It could easily be the best game on the market today. great graphics for the eye candy crowd, great classes(healers that dont suck), fleshed out end game and even some pvp.

I stopped playing at 61 or 62 when I realized that there were no quests for me and I would have to grind my levels. I wouldn't mind it if I had someone with me to break the monotony of it. Although, I have started to play Diablo 2 with an Army buddy of mine. That game still rocks. Blizz really needs to work on battle.net though for when SC2 comes out. I think their servers are about to break from old age.

I am in AoC now. My ranger is lvl 69. I slowed my lvling alot in the 60's as I am the only one on many times so no real need to race. I completely intend to reach 80 and raid atleast once in AoC even if I have to drop the tag to do it.

I still have quests to take me into the 70s out of Atzels and Thunder River. I also still have many grp quests that I get to periodically knock out with some friends ive made in AoC. I havent needed to grind my lvls yet but I do use the villa's every few days. Not really to grind a lvl but more so to keep me from running out of quests sooner.

The hell's will freeze over before I turn that game back on

As far as AoC - I pop in on the PvP server occasionally, but it's been awhile. There's just not enough PvP on the PvE server and that is my primary source of entertainment. If they can fix the PvP, actually make it worth doing, and correct sieges, I'm happy to come back.

Combat is fun, quests are good and the canon is great - but soloing for 60+ levels gets a bit dry when you can't break for killing.

Till then, I'm working through the beta for WH:O and plan to play that when it's released. I PvP'd my way to through 30+ levels which was a great alternative to PvE quest grinding when you want a break.

Well Fing my mage is level 74, about to hit 75. Once you get up closer to me I would be happy to group up. Like you have said I pretty much quested up through level 73. I did run short then and have had to grind a level or two in camps, but really this has not been that bad. I have a good 15+ quests but they are are red currently....one more level, pop 75, and those should all free up for me.

My WOW accounts are still active, and I still log in to make folks gems, but ZOMG it's tough to stay logged in and look at those graphics after playing AoC.

so my understanding is funcom is adding more daily content.....hmmmmm.......

2 hours worth of dailys on a xx(is it 6 or 8 hours, cant remember) hour timer that you can start doing in your late 40's isn't enuf funcom?? wtf, why dont you just allow payed leveling services and charge each side a fee for not banning the account, and spend all your time fixing lvl 80 solo, group, raid content and fix pvp you bunch of f'in morans.

normally i dont bash games like this but damn, because Conan has such great potentional its even more depressing to see a game go down simply due to a lack of proper priorites by the game designers.

if the cancelations of accounts isnt enuf to get funcom to see the writing on the wall, not much chance a post on the forums or an ingame petition will change anything......

now that im done bitching, more to the point of the post digger

As far as Conan, I will be reactivating my account and funcom has till I hit 80 to fix things. What I know for sure is I will not try warhammer, I will finish leveling on Conan before i dump another 80-100 bucks on a new game and 3 months worth of subscriptions. WoW doesnt spark any interest. As far as EQ goes, thats kind of like calling up my ex and asking her out, and since I havnt hit rockbottom quite yet......

Started playing Eve Online at the same time we all started Travian, I like the game as a whole.

Well for me I spent quite a bit of time playing this game till 80, took a break, tried some alts but there just wasn't enough content to justify leveling an alt, I was doing the exact same quests I did on my first character.

Then my brother and I who hadn't played a game together since January both picked up diablo 2 and played it for a while had some fun and decided to reroll horde. WOW didn't feel like going back to a kid's game for me because I had been playing D2.

I think what I really liked about AOC more than anything was not having a scripted time period for playing and having time to go and do other stuff even though I wanted to be playing the game. I enjoyed the game much more in the casual setting than the raid setting. I got to know a lot of you better because we had conversations instead of 25 people trying to pay attention to a raid and "do their jobs".

As for rerolling horde I really like the idea of seeing 25 man content with 10 people. The main reason I liked raiding was experiencing the story that was offered and progressing in that story. I think it will be great to be able to go into WOTLK with the mindset of doing a 10 man instance 1 or 2 days a week and not feeling the pressure of being a 25 man raid guild.

Anyway I'm pretty sure I won't be continuing with AOC unless they offer more content or my brother gets a better computer and decides to play it. Warhammer doesn't really interest me, looks to similar to WOW except pvp based (which I never liked all that much).

Warhammer is probably where im going next, I don't think I will go back to wow or anything until I test out Warhammer.

I'm back to EQ2 and may give EQ a try this weekend when I get my access pass back.

AOC was frustrating, I REALLY liked the HoX class and had fun with it but there is maybe 4 items total in the game that is geared for HoX, it's either caster gear or rogue gear. Yes they are casters but not really, and the gear was "sort of ok"

Also the combos require timing to work right and I don't know if it was my connection or the game but I had lag at ALL times. I would say 40% of my deaths were caused by lag and the HoX is already famous for it's death toll when all was well.

Add to all this a crap TON of little annoying things that I just "dealt with" everyday while playing. Like my horse being stopped by a rabbit. Or having to wait while my toon got off the horse...shoo'ed it away.....did his nails...watched a movie....just to step past someone that is standing at the zone line and blocking me from reaching the zone.

I just finally got tired of forcing myself to play it.

Well from your last statement I would think we have learned that your reading comprehension is lacking. This thread is full ppl making statements that they want both graphics and gameplay making them graphics == gameplay.

i tried AoC for 3 or 4 weeks. went back to WoW because i liked the gameplay/story better.

i MAY try WAR for the graphics. but i'm going into it pretty much knowing it'll be shut off before the first monthly payment goes through.

so.. graphics == interest. gameplay==drain_life

I felt the same way, actually school stuff hit first and as soon as that was over I just got worn out and wanted to curl up catch up on all the real reading I have been wanting to do for the past year. Now that I have a functioning comp I will definitely consider whatever is next on the vern game list. Even/especially EQ

This isn't an attack on you Meda, I'm just using your valid opinion to do my best to express why I'm frustrated and don't wish to return to WoW as some have asked me too.

I've played games that have great graphics, games that had great sounds, games with great combat mechanics, games with awesome pvp, games with in depth pve with really thought out dungeons and even games that were just played on pen and paper, aka DnD.

When I was a kid I could pick up a stick and pretend it was a sword. As I got older I played with toy guns. In my teens I used bb guns. When I turned old enough I purchased a Russian made semi automatic SKS.

When I was a kid I used 2 cans tied together via a string and pretended I was in a bunker that was made up of blankets in my room. As I got older my parents bought me a pair of walkie talkies. When I was in my teens I actually used to listen to CB's *my dad was a trucker for many years*, when I could finally afford one, I bought a cell phone.

I'm 37 now, my enjoyment and recreation time still boil down to what I can afford and what brings me enjoyment. We have spent thousands of dollars on computer parts, money I happily spent and feel no regrets over. So when I fire up a game now, I'm not that 5 year old kid with a stick and 2 can's tied together with a string. I WANT MORE and as a consumer demand it! I don't want to play a game that just gives me one thing out of all those I'm looking for. To repeat a cliche, I want it all!

Let me state, I live in the real world, I understand I can't have it all when it comes to games, to have that, I would have to develop a game on my own. So I'm left with finding a game that offers me what I'm looking for at this stage in my life. I want a combination of solid graphics, good combat mechanics, great game play and heaven forbid, meaningful fun pvp.

WoW had good game play but honestly, that's it. AoC had great graphics and good combat mechanics but sadly funcomm has failed to deliver anything beyond that.

Where do guys like me go? I don't want to play with a stick anymore, I want a lightsaber damnit!
